franhonar Agra, my favourite track from this album is a city in North India that was a seat of the Mughal Muslim Empire in the 1500s-1600s, and where Shah Jehan built the Taj Mahal for his wife Mumtaz. A portion of the azaan that is heard at the beginning of this piece is a sample of city street sounds in Agra and the entire piece is a tribute to the power and majesty of that empire as well as the tragedy and love that connects the Taj Mahal to it. Favorite track: Agra.

we live in the space between petals in the subtle breath between one blur and another opening as time overlapping impossible gestures that we can feel moving in ways we don’t know that we know lose time, lose the flow the bloom’s location is unknown press the matter, lost forever what surges in the break, and this breach itself, are true; we live in the movement of a petal’s open undoing

about

ATTN: CD RELEASE MAR.30 AT LULA LOUNGE in TORONTO

Avataar's music has drawn comparison to Mahavishnu Orchestra, Keith Jarrett with Jan Garbarek, late Coltrane, and Oregon. The resulting confluence is a mesmerizing blend of rhythmic hypnotism, sonic landscapes and soaring melody that marries ancient and modern musical sounds. Cleverly layered and cinematic in scope, the music drives and swirls through a vast sonic palette. The album is questing in nature - the concepts of impermanence and universal consciousness feature in many of the compositions, as do first-rate musical interpretations and improvisations highlighting guitar, saxophone and vocals.
